Entry into the Burlington Gymnastics Club competitive programs is by tryout only. Tryouts are hosted annually in the spring for selected birth years. Previous recreation gymnastics class experience is highly recommended, as we are looking for gymnasts that demonstrate a natural capability in the areas of flexibility, strength, coordination, listening and aptitude.

Competitive gymnastics is a performance driven discipline that requires weekly scheduled training hours (6-25 hrs. pending level and age) and participation in competitions throughout the season. Training schedules include one weekend time slot and higher level programs may require some training during school hours.

Gymnasts with previous competitive experience interested in joining our club during the competitive season (July-June), are asked to contact the respective Head Coach.

Tryout FAQs

Please have your child wear a gym suit or shorts and a tank top. Please have their hair tied up neatly. Your child should have bare feet and be ready to head into the gym without changing clothes.

Please arrive 5 minutes early. Parents will not be permitted in the testing area during the tryouts.

We will be asking the athletes to demonstrate flexibility, strength, cooperation, coordination and a willingness to learn gymnastics. We try to create a fun environment for tryouts where kids can feel encouraged to show how much they love gymnastics.

You will be contacted by email after the tryouts are completed. You will then receive a follow up phone call to explain the program we have selected for your child if they are chosen for a pre competitive program.

We try to have the tryouts completed in 45-50 minutes. Please be prepared to have your child stay for the full tryout time. Parents are asked to remain in the lobby during the tryout so the directors of the program can speak with you or contact you should your child need you.

After selection, we will be in touch regarding start dates. Our programs are annual and run from July – June of the following year.

Burlington Gymnastics Club is a non-profit organization and as such, all competitive families pay monthly fees for training and also participate in volunteer hours. The fee structure and volunteer hour breakdown will be made available to you if your child is selected for the program.
