2024
The Burlington Gymnastics Club opened BGC North, its second gymnastics centre located at 3465 North Service Road, Burlington dedicated to recreational and competitive artistic gymnastics.
2018
In 2018, the BGC celebrates two milestones; it’s 50th Anniversary and the 30th Anniversary of the Spring Cup Invitational.
2016
In April 2016, the Burlington Chamber of Commerce Awards the BGC with the Business Excellence Award, In recognition an individual, organization or business that has made an outstanding contribution of a sustained period of time to the promotion of Burlington as a tourism destination
2014
In 2014, the first Rhythmic Spring Cup is held at Haber Recreation Centre to give all competitors with the BGC a chance to compete regardless of competitive category.
2013
On May 4th, 2013, the BGC runs its 25th Spring Cup event at Appleby Ice Centre and the Board of Directors host a 45th Anniversary Celebration at the same venue to recognize the two anniversaries (25-45)
2007
In 2007, the BGC is designated the largest gymnastics Club in Ontario with 2,907 registrations
2005
To accommodate the demand for gymnastic programming in the growing areas of North Burlington, BGC opens the Kids In Motion Centre (KIM Centre) in 2005, at 4373 Mainway. That same year, BGC is awarded the Ed Broughham Club of the Year from Gymnastics Canada (GCG).
2002
In 2002, the Spring Cup hosts an International event at Notre Dame High School, a meet that hosted eight countries and five provinces. The 39 clubs included Rhythmic Gymnastics and Sports Aerobics, plus seven seminars for parents and coaches including remarks from FIG Vice President Slava Corn.
1988
In 1988, the first Artistic Spring Cup is held at the Maple Avenue facility to give all competitors within the BGC a chance to compete together regardless of competitive category. Four gymnastics clubs participated.
1980
The Grand Opening of Maple Gymnastics Centre at 710 Maple Avenue occurred in 1980, through a Joint Venture agreement with City of Burlington, a partnership that continues today.
1978
In 1978, Rhythmic Gymnastics programs were started at the Burlington Gymnastics Club with Donna Boadway as coach.
1977
The BGC was incorporated in 1977 and joined the Ontario Gymnastics Federation (GO). BGC moved its training to the Reimer industrial building on South Service Road in Burlington as the first necessary step to secure City of Burlington blessing and financing for the construction of our Maple location. BGC was one of the first permanent training centres for gymnastics in Ontario.
1975
The BGC and the Oakville Gym Club merged to form the Burl-Oak Aerialettes in 1975. Training then expanded to include Frontenac Public School and T. A. Blakelock in Oakville.
1972
By 1972, gymnastic training expanded to M. M. Robinson High School gym.
1969
In 1969, the City of Burlington Recreation Department recognized gymnastics programs offered by the BGC and training ensued at General Brock High School for the Burlington International Games (BIG).
1968
The Burlington Gymnastics Club (BGC) started as an after school sports program at John T. Tuck School with teachers Bob Wiggins and Ron Edgar. Our official birthday is 1968.
