A: BGC recreational programs are designed for participants of all ages from early childhood up to and including teen and adult programs. Programming is offered as single day programs that run over a 6 – 8 week session. We offer 6 sessions a season (September through June). Recreational gymnasts do not compete, though they have the option to participate in showcase events, with the focus being on gymnastics foundations, fundamentals, and fun!
The artistic and rhythmic gymnastics competitive programs are by try-out (held every spring) and acceptance only. Artistic gymnastics is a challenging sport, demanding strength, power, flexibility, agility, courage, and a combination of technical precision and artistic creativity performed on vault, uneven bars, beam, and floor. BGC has developmental and competitive programs. Rhythmic gymnastics is half art and half sport and requires expression, technical handling of apparatus, and perfect mastery of body expression. Rhythmic gymnastics involves great flexibility, strength, timing, and coordination. Competitive training is between 6-25 hours per week.
A: BGC is a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment. We welcome all gymnasts regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, or ability.
